Beta edition. AcrossTable is in private beta. Two administrative facts are deliberately left open below rather than filled with a guess — the formal operating entity (§1) and the governing law (§13) — and both will be stated here before paid plans open.

AcrossTable is operated during the private beta by its builder as an individual operator. The formal operating entity will be named here before paid plans open. Using the service means accepting these terms.
These terms are for hosts — the people who start meetings and hold the records they produce. A guest who opens a meeting link is not asked to accept anything, and these terms place no obligations on them.

AcrossTable turns a face-to-face conversation between two languages into live bilingual captions, and leaves a bilingual record behind.
Viewing is free and has no seat limit, and there is no account wall or paywall on the viewing side. That is a product commitment, not a pricing tier.

You are recording other people's speech. Before every meeting the product asks you to confirm, in writing, that you have told everyone present. You cannot start without it, and the confirmation is stamped into the record.
That confirmation is a record of your act, not a transfer of your responsibility. Telling the people in the room, and complying with whatever recording and privacy law applies where you are sitting, is yours. The product supports you — a standing on-screen notice that guests cannot dismiss, and the same notice printed at the top of every export — but it does not do it for you.

The intended structure is three plans for hosts, with viewing always free and unlimited on every one of them:

Exact allowances and prices are not yet published — they will be announced before payments open, and can change during beta; the structure is fixed, the numbers are not.
Two commitments about how a limit is applied:

The conversations you hold, the transcripts they produce and the notes generated from them are yours. We process them only to provide the service, in the ways the Privacy Policy describes, and we do not use them to train models.
To provide live captions we necessarily send your conversation to the processors listed in the Privacy Policy §5. What those companies do with what they receive is governed by their own terms; we choose them, and we name all of them.

You can export any meeting as a Markdown document at any time, with no request and no waiting — see the Privacy Policy §9, which describes the export and, next to it, the honest state of deletion.
You can stop using the service whenever you want. If you want your records removed, write to hello@acrosstable.com and say which — see the Privacy Policy §9, including the honest note that this is currently done by hand and that nothing is deleted automatically.
We may suspend or end access for a host who breaches §5. If we do, you will be told why, and you get a reasonable opportunity to export your records first — unless the breach is one where that would be plainly inappropriate.

The service is provided as it is. We do not warrant that captions will be accurate, that translations will be faithful, that the service will be available when you need it, or that a meeting will be free of interruption. Sections 3 and 5 say why in concrete terms rather than in the abstract.

We can change these terms. When a change materially affects hosts, we update the date at the top and post the change on this page before it takes effect; continuing to use the service after that means accepting the new terms. The service does not yet hold hosts' email addresses, so this page — not an email — is where changes are announced; if that changes, so will this sentence.
